Project Overview: £25,000 of FREE Eco Solutions Installation at Longworth Bank in Bolton

At Longworth Bank, a charming period property in the rural area of Bolton, we undertook a comprehensive eco-friendly renovation for homeowner Alison. This project focused on improving energy efficiency and comfort through several key upgrades.

  • Date of Installation: February 2025
  • Location: Bolton
  • Type of Eco Grant: ECO4 Grant
  • Grant Approved: £25,000
  • Cost to Homeowner: £0
  • EPC before: F ⛔️
  • New EPC: B ✅

Prior to our installation, Alison experienced significant discomfort in her home due to outdated, inefficient storage heaters and poor insulation. The cold, drafty environment made it difficult for her to maintain a comfortable temperature, especially during the harsh winter months.

We insulated the cottage’s external walls using internal wall insulation, effectively enhancing thermal performance. Additionally, we insulated the loft, ensuring that both the walls and roof contributed to a warmer living environment.

The installation included modern high heat retention storage heaters, designed to charge overnight under a dual tariff, thereby reducing energy costs. Furthermore, we also installed solar panels on the roof to harness renewable energy, helping to significantly lower electricity bills during daylight hours.

Timelines

  • Timeline for Grant Approval: 2 weeks from assessment to install
  • Timeline for Installation: The internal wall insulation was completed in approximately 4 days, followed by an additional few days for the installation of solar panels and high heat retention storage heaters. In total, the project was completed in just 7 days.

Customer Feedback

Alison expressed her satisfaction with the installation, noting a remarkable difference in the warmth of her home immediately after the upgrades were made. She was particularly pleased with how effectively the new heaters maintained a comfortable ambient temperature, making her living space much more enjoyable and taking her EPC (Energy Performance Certificate) from an F to a B.
